Once in a while I have the kids across grade levels learn songs that are short in length and somewhat entertaining in order for them to share with their siblings, parents, classmates, teachers and kids in other grades (bus). The goal is to create a culture of unity through music. My bond with my 4 year old daughter grew since I took up this assignment just because I sing to her now. It is simple, yet extremely rewarding. I challenge you to take the time to ask your children to sing to you so you can learn the songs yourselves and sing back to them. Just have fun with them!
Some of the songs you might want to ask for are: I'm a Little Coconut, Way Up High in the Apple Tree, Tony Chestnut, Fiddle Diddle Dee, Shark Song, Flea Fly Mosquito, Pizza Parlor Pizza Please, Karate Do, Solfege Song, Martin Luther King songs, Veterans Day Songs, Pinocchio song, Skinnamarink, You Are My Sunshine, and there is more! Just ask your kids...
